No one has beaten Ingemar Stenmark’s mighty record of 43 long years.
Now the superb Sandra Näslund can do it already this weekend.

There are few Swedish athletes who can measure up Ingemar Stenmarks greatness. But now the supreme ski crosser can Sandra Näslund actually snuffing out the slalom icon on one of his many records in the history books.
Stenmark’s record
To this day, “Stenis” is the one who has won the most races in a row in the World Cup – if you include all Fis disciplines. Legendar won 15 consecutive World Cup races in 1979 and no other rider has managed to beat the record for 43 years.

But this weekend, Näslund can become historic. She is currently on 14 consecutive World Cup victories and can both touch and pass Stenmark during this weekend’s competitions in Idre.
– It’s cool and fun that it’s going so well, but Idre Fjäll is a tricky course. I will do my best when I start, says the Swede to SVT Sport.

Näslund’s greatness
Näslund leads the overall World Cup this year after five straight wins this season and she is also the reigning Olympic champion as well as the reigning world champion in ski cross. Add to that the nine straight victories at the World Cup last season and it’s a Sandra Näslund in great form right now.
– I have been stable for many years and in the last two seasons everything has fallen into place. The skis, the boots, yes my whole set up works and then of course hard work, she says to the television channel.

Double World Cup competitions in Idre await and Näslund is clearly the big favorite to take double victories and beat Ingemar Stenmark’s senseless record.
– Many times I stand in the gate at the start and know that if I only do what I have to do then the others have no chance, of course it’s fun, says the superb 26-year-old in the interview.
