The emergency services were called to the scene just before one in the morning after a stairwell was filled with fire smoke. About 10 units were quickly on the scene and established a developed fire in an apartment.
Smoke divers found two people in the apartment who were then taken to hospital by ambulance.
– We do not know the cause of the fire, says Bo-Lennart Björklund, officer on duty at the Fire Service in Umeå.
The police will now carry out a technical investigation to investigate the cause of the fire.
