Armand Duplantis had to leave the Sports Gala with no luck.
Now girlfriend Desiré Inglander reveals the wonderful support for her partner.

2022 was a sensationally good year for Armand Duplantis who had his most successful season to date in his career. The Swedish superstar in pole vaulting won WC gold both indoors and outdoors, EC gold outdoors, overall victory in the Diamond League and broke new world records several times.
Mondo nobbed
Duplantis was also greatly rewarded for his incredible feats with several heavy, international awards when the season was to be summed up. But at home in Sweden, the 23-year-old was completely forgotten when Swedish athletes were to be celebrated and praised at the Sports Gala on Monday evening.

“Mondo” was in Avicii arena together with his girlfriend Desire Inglander but got to see from the first floor how the skating fan Nils van der Poel beat him at all prices. The fact that Duplantis did not receive a single prize at the Sports Gala has provoked strong reactions in sports Sweden after the gala.

Desiree’s support
In connection with the Sports Gala, partner Desiré was asked how she supports the world’s best pole vaulter boyfriend. Then she talks about the admirable support she both gives and receives in her love relationship with Armand Duplantis.
– I think the most important thing is to remember that we are just ordinary people when we get home. We just take care of each other like any other normal couple, she says in a TV interview with the site Hänt.

Mondo Duplantis has not yet spoken out after the Sports Gala and about the feelings after missing out on all the awards, even though he was nominated in the categories Male Athlete of the Year, Performance of the Year and the Jerring Prize. At his side, however, Desiré will be there and give her wholehearted support.
– I do everything I can to be by his side. Just like he does for me, she says in the interview.
