The taxi business in GTA Online is now active. If you want, you can work as a taxi driver and earn money with it. We tested how much coal gets around.
What kind of job is that? As part of the Los Santos Drug Wars update, the Taxi Business was unlocked on January 19th. The developers announced the feature a few weeks ago.
Now you can finally use it. But is it worth it? The online world of GTA 5 is all about money. We made 10 rides and show what’s going on.
Driving a taxi to pass the time, but not to get rich
This is how it works: If you want to start as a taxi driver, you can mark the downtown cab business on the map. At the front door you confirm that you want to work as a driver. Then it’s always the same: You pick up a passenger who is marked on the map and then bring them to the destination that is stored in the GPS.
The more passengers you transport in a row, the more money you can earn per trip.
Buy your own taxi: You can buy a taxi yourself at Warstock Cache and Carry. That costs 650,000 or with a discount only 487,000 GTA dollars. The discount is available if you have transported 10 guests as a taxi driver. You can then buy the taxi as a Pegasus vehicle. It’s not in your garage.
This is how much we earned: With 10 rides we made 14,316 GTA dollars. Compared to missions and heists, that’s not much money. In our big money guide for GTA Online, we’ll show you how to make a lot of money really quickly.
