Now the 26-year-old man is sentenced to a year and a half in prison and he must also pay back the money. The man is convicted against his denial – he claims that the woman herself suggested that she give him the money.
According to the indictment, the threats included that the woman or her relatives would be subjected to violence or killed if she did not hand over the money.
This was to be done because his cousin was said to have been raped by the woman’s son and then killed himself. Malmö district court does not take a position on whether the claim of rape is true, but considers it unreasonable that the woman would transfer an amount of a million to an unknown man and that the transfer would also be made to someone other than the family of the allegedly raped woman.
