Deleting a Facebook account may seem simple on paper, but the process is actually quite complex. We detail how to quickly and easily delete your Facebook account.
You no longer use your Facebook account? Note that it is possible to delete Facebook to no longer have any connection with the social network. In practice, there are actually two options for those who have lost the habit of logging into their Facebook account or simply no longer want to access it. Deactivating the Facebook account is a first option. This is, concretely, to temporarily suspend your Facebook account. This solution allows you to backtrack if you change your mind and recover your account as if nothing had happened. Deleting a Facebook account is the second option. Much more effective than simply suspending or deactivating the account, deleting the Facebook account is permanent.
Delete a Facebook account
From a computer, deleting a Facebook account only takes a few minutes. To put it simply, follow these steps:
- enter their credentials to connect to their Facebook account;
- go to the privacy settings (using the drop-down menu located at the top right of the screen);
- select the “”Settings”” category, then the “”Your Facebook information”” option;
- Click on “”Deactivation and deletion””;
- Choose the “”Delete account”” option.
Facebook then asks you to confirm your decision by asking you to enter your personal password. A final click on “Continue” concludes the process of deleting your Facebook account.
As mentioned earlier, deleting a Facebook account from a computer or smartphone (see below) is a permanent procedure. Once the deletion of the account has been validated, you will no longer have the possibility of recovering either your account or your data, except to carry out this procedure within 30 days after the deletion of your account. The social network founded by Marck Zuckerberg indeed grants a cooling-off period of 30 days to its users who could regret, in the short term, their departure from Facebook.
Delete a Facebook account on mobile
Are you used to using Facebook on your mobile via the application rather than on a computer? Note that you also have the option of deleting a Facebook account on mobile. The procedure is identical to that described above. You just have to follow the path “”Privacy settings”” > “”Settings”” > “”Your Facebook information”” > “”Deactivation and deletion”” > “”Delete account””.
Note that once your Facebook account is deleted on mobile, you will no longer be able to recover photos, videos, comments, etc. posted on your profile. In the same way, you will no longer be able to access the pages, groups and other services offered by Facebook that require the connection to a personal account.
