Linn Svahn is back in the World Cup.
Now the icon and expert Torgny Mogren makes a tough demand.
– I think it will be tough, he says in Radiosporten.
Linn Svahn is finally back after her annoying shoulder injury that she suffered almost two years ago. Svahn has already competed in Sweden in the Scandinavian Cup, but the big comeback in the World Cup has been delayed. And time is short for her if she wants a place in the big highlight of the season, the WC, which starts in just over a month.
Judgment of the icon
There are only two race weekends left for Svahn to prove himself worthy of a place, and in other words, it is a real knife to the throat that the star has. During this weekend’s competitions in Falun, the sprint expert already went out in the semi-finals – a serious miscalculation, and now it is necessary for her to perform significantly better against the very best in the world, when the World Cup now reaches Livigno.
And Torgny Mogren, skiing icon and now an expert in Radiosport, is clear about what he wants to see. He makes clear demands on Svahn about what she needs to perform in order to get a ticket to the WC.
– I think above all that this weekend, in Livigno, there I definitely want to see her in a semi-final. Then if she doesn’t make it to the final, I understand that. But she almost has to make it to a semi-final for it to feel like she has something to do with a WC, he says.

“Can be tough”
Mogren believes that it is difficult to perform against the very best in the world when you are not used to competing, and that everyone reacts differently quickly on the way back.
– Linn Svahn has been away for almost two seasons, and really needs to get competition at the right level to get started. For Linn, it might be tougher. She doesn’t have this competition habit that you need, to be able to compete a lot and above all maybe compete at the highest level in the World Cup, to face the best. She hasn’t had the chance to do that yet, but we’ll see. Some come to it faster than others, he says.
Otherwise, Torgny Mogren believes that it is a sprint national team in harmony, where several skaters look sharp.
– I think it looks good in any case, with Jonna Sundling for example. It will be interesting to see this weekend.
