Google is developing its own tracking device after Apple and Samsung

apple and Samsunghad already released location tracking tags as Air Tag and Samsung Tag. Google wants to get involved with Apple and Samsung by developing its own tracking system. According to some sources and research, Google now has a “locator tag” as a listed device. The product is expected to be codenamed “Grogu”, “Groguaudio” or “GR10”.

The product was developed by Google’s Nest team, which makes smart home systems, but that doesn’t mean it will be a Nest product. The device has a built-in speaker and comes with support for UWB (ultra wideband) and Bluetooth Low Energy, technologies used for radio-based communication for short range usage scenarios.

Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Prohas a hitherto obsolete UWB module. It can be used to turn Nest speakers on or off, but the feature is still in development. Google is also working with chipset manufacturers to enable Fast Pair support for Android products, allowing each manufacturer to develop their own audience.

The Google Grogu tag can be announced before the Google I/O event held in May each year.
