The championship of American football will be decided only for the fifth time outside the capital region.
The American football championship will be decided this year in Seinäjoki. The final match of the Maple Cup will be held at the Seinäjoki football stadium on September 9.
The American football championship will be played for the 44th time this summer. The final match has been held outside the capital region only four times.
The previous finals have been played in Kuopio (2022), Lahti (2020 and 2021) and Tampere (2019). This time the event is organized in cooperation with the city of Seinäjoki, W-Media & Management Oy and Seinäjoki Crocodiles ry.
Chairman of the SAJL of the Finnish American Football Association Roope Noronen says that Seinäjoki has been “under construction” for a long time.
– It’s great that this year we get to implement this. There will be a larger side event around the match than before. Hopefully, as many of the Yankee football family as possible will also be able to come to celebrate the end of the season.
Seinäjoki is known as an event city, where not only several music events are organized, but also large sports events, such as national matches of various sports, international competitions and sports events.
