In Pokémon GO, a glitch is supposed to give you a special candy blessing on Purmel, but you better be careful with that. We at MeinMMO have looked at what it is all about and what danger it entails for you.
Which Pokemon is it? Since December 2022 you can use your postcards to secure the beetle Pokémon Purmel in Pokémon GO. This has different patterns from different regions of the world, which can be further developed via Puponcho to Vivillon.
So it’s not surprising that you need one thing above all to secure all variants of Vivillon: lots of candies. Now a glitch should help you and give you tons of it.
What the trainers report about the glitch and why it can also bring you a decisive disadvantage, we have summarized below.

Trainers test the glitch and are surprised
What glitch is it? As the reddit user ExTeNdEnD shares in his post, a special glitch for the beetle Pokémon Purmel was discovered. This should bring you a lot of sweets through the special feeding and walking with your Purmel.
As you can see from the post, the original finding of the glitch came from a German Facebook group for Pokémon GO. There it is explained that you should take a Purmel as a buddy and feed it Knursp.
After a subsequent skilful buddy change, there should be a glitch in the game, which should give you lots of candy when you go for a walk with this Purmel. According to the reddit comments, some trainers have tried it directly and are happy about their success (via reddit.com):
Does this work with other monsters too? The reddit user taixun4532, on the other hand, is less surprised by this glitch. He’s known about this in-game for some time, which is why he explains to other trainers that he’s not just limited to Purmel. He writes (via reddit.com): “You can do that with any Pokémon.”
However, he points out that the variety of candies is still based on the kilometers that a monster normally has to cover for a candy. Some monsters still need to have walked a distance of up to 20 kilometers to get the candy.
Also, the glitch has no effect on XL candies. According to taixun4532, it is therefore particularly interesting for monsters with a short walking distance, as is the case with Purmel (via reddit.com).
That’s why you shouldn’t use the glitch
But although the glitch is supposed to work well and sounds very tempting because it can literally give you a real candy blessing, you should be careful with it. This functionality is not part of the actual game idea of Pokémon GO.
You are exploiting a bug in the game to gain an advantage, which Niantic could potentially punish with a ban. The moderator Noitalein also points this out under the reddit post:
Hi Guys! I just wanted to point out that this is technically bug abuse and, aside from other bugs that might let you catch a Pokemon half a second faster than other people, can give you huge advantages over other players. In other, more blunt words, this is against Niantic’s Terms of Service and against the spirit of the game. Use at your own risk. Your accounts could be banned if you use this bug. Also, it’s probably very easy for Niantic to figure out, so… be aware of that.

Due to the ban risk, we have not included detailed instructions on how to use the glitch in this article. So if you don’t want to risk this, you should refrain from using the glitch.
Did you already know the glitch for Purmel? And have you perhaps even tried it yourself? Or do you think that such errors should be fixed by Niantic as soon as possible? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
