Linn Svahn is fighting to take a place at the World Ski Championships.
Unfortunately, the weekend’s effort did not strengthen her chances of a WC ticket.
– It is clear that they would have liked to see her a little further up the list, national team manager Anders Byström admits to SVT.
At the end of last year did Lynn Svahn finally comeback after his long injury absence. Now the Swede is doing everything to succeed in snagging a ticket to the World Ski Championships, which starts in just over a month.
Svahn’s miscalculation
But there is little time left for the 23-year-old, who has not yet competed in the World Cup this season, and there are only two competition weekends left before the Swedish WC squad is nailed down. Therefore, this weekend’s performance in the Scandinavian Cup was extremely decisive for Svahn.

However, it was disappointing when the Swede went out already in the semi-finals in Falun. After the race, Svahn blamed her skis as the big problem.
– It feels like the WC form is not far away, I just have to get the conditions for it, she said after the sprint.

The national team’s message
Nor was the Swedish national ski team particularly pleased with Svahn’s sprint competition this weekend.
– It is clear that they would have liked to see her a little further up the list, but there are some explanations for that, says the national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.
– I said yesterday that it is probably good if you reach the final and show that you have something to do in the World Cup. But now the conditions were extreme and she says herself that she was not very well underfoot. Then it is difficult to do justice. I still think that there were tendencies in her riding that were positive.

The Swedish national team manager then delivers a hard and clear message to Linn Svahn in the fight for a WC place at the championship in Planica, Slovenia, February 21 to March 5.
– There is still a long way to go. It takes quite a lot there. There is still a qualifying process until then, but a Linn Svahn in the kind that everyone wants to see before the injury, Byström admits in the interview.

Next up is the World Cup competition in Livigno, Italy, and then only Les Rousses, France, before the blue-and-yellow World Cup squad is nailed down. There remains one free place for the sprint then Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist, Emma Ribom and Johanna Hagström are already selected for the ski WC.
