After a more than complicated launch at the end of 2021, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition should land on PC within a few days.
[Mis à jour le 16 janvier 2023 à 12h14] Grand Theft Auto needs no introduction. The legend of simulation and action games has occupied the minds of fans and the press for more than twenty years, and remains one of the main concerns of the video game industry in general. A status that we owe to 5 episodes of indisputable quality and which each marked their console generation. Which is good since three of the franchise’s most popular titles are making their big debut on PC in the coming days. Indeed, GTA Trilogy The Definitive Edition, a remaster of GTA 3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas released on consoles at the end of 2021, should arrive on PC very soon. Information that we owe to the respected video game investigation journal insider-gaming.
According to Tom Henderson for insider-gaming, API changes from Steam (store files) and Epic Games suggest that GTA The Trilogy Definitive Edition will arrive on PC on next January 19. An extremely discreet release as usual from Rockstar, a fact all the more understandable when we look at the console release of this same trilogy, extremely criticized at the end of 2021 for its lack of technical ambition (it is indeed of very poor remasters) and the importance of the number of bugs that plague its gameplay. You should also know that the game should be on promotion at -50% in the first week of its existence on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
We already know that GTA the Trilogy the Definitive Edition will have improved graphics that can support 4K textures and benefit from Nvidia’s DLSS. Despite these impressive statistics, these games remain relatively old and their graphics, even remastered, retain a rather “cartoon” aspect. We did not expect very high configurations to be able to run the GTA Trilogy on PC and Rockstar has confirmed it:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Operating system : Windows 10 64 bit
- Processor : Intel Core i5-6600K / AMD FX-6300
- RAM: 8 GB
- Graphic card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2 GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3 GB
- Free space on the hard disk: 45 GB
RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION

- Processor : Intel Core i7-2700K / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphic card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB / AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB
- Free space on the hard disk: 45 GB
Rockstar is lenient with PC gamers, offering three games that are extremely accessible to even the most modest configurations. On console, it is towards hard drives that the American publisher shows the extent of its leniency. GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition will be able to be installed depending on the game you want to play. Concretely this means that the installation is divided between the three games, and that you can choose which ones you want to install. Good news for the overloaded hard drives of older generation consoles. According to some sources, GTA 3 should weigh around 5.5 Gb, GTA Vice City not far from 11 Gb and GTA San Andreas around 23 Gb.
Rockstar has also announced the price of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition which will be released in physical and digital versions at a price of 59.99 euros. Quite a hefty price tag for such venerable games, although this bundle is three games in one. It is also a thorny subject for Rockstar which is already undergoing some jeers from Internet users. A single price on all platforms besides (except on Nintendo Switch where the game is sold at 50 euros), whether on PC, Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo. The game is still available for purchase on the official website from Rockstar and on the sites of certain specialized retailers.
The remastering of three cult GTA games could not draw a line under next-gen consoles like the PS5. However, the latter does not have a physical edition. It is therefore already possible to reserve your copy to enjoy the best conditions of the new graphics of this edition only on PS4. The Playstation 5 version is available for digital purchase via the PS Store, and offers textures in 4K and 60fps without batting an eyelid.
Microsoft fans can also enjoy these three updated games. Whether you own the Xbox One, Series S or Series X, you can order your copy of GTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition. Only one edition is available, but it works on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Since the Xbox Series S console is entirely digital, you must go through the official online store to download the game.
Surprise ! GTA: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition is also available on the Nintendo Switch hybrid console. So you can enjoy three cult GTA games even when you’re on the go! This version is available at Fnac at the recommended retail price of €50.
