Since Elon Musk bought Twitter, according to some, it is a struggle, and according to others, it is in chaos. Musk’s firing of thousands of employees after buying Twitter, Twitter files, Twitter 2.0 step etc. Then we come to 2023 and Twitter is expected to take important steps in the new year under Musk’s leadership. But Twitter needs revenue just like any other company, and Musk is trying a lot of ways. While the Twitter Blue subscription system is an example of this, the allegations in the interesting report fell like a bomb on the agenda.
HERE IS THAT ‘CRAZY’ CLAIM!
According to the claims of The New York Times, Elon Musk plans to sell usernames for money via auction. The report also suggests that engineers at the company are considering holding online auctions where users can bid on usernames. This idea is said to have been talked about since at least December.
It is not known whether the plan will be implemented, but it is unclear whether it will affect all usernames or just some if it does.
There was no official statement from the company regarding the allegations.
However, a tweet that Musk shared last month came to mind.
Twitter will soon start freeing the name space of 1.5 billion accounts
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 9, 2022
With that tweet, Musk announced that the namespace of his 1.5 billion accounts would soon begin to be wasted.
