The Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) criticizes special residences in Lerum municipality for having staff who are too poor in Swedish and do not have sufficient competence, reports SVT Nyheter Väst.
“That elderly people in the final stages of life do not receive the care and treatment they are entitled to is serious,” says Lennart Pettersson, head of unit at Ivo, in a press release according to the channel.
The municipality of Lerum states that it accepts the criticism, but does not agree with the assessment that “there is a high risk in relation to other municipalities in terms of the issue of individual assessment and competence”, according to a press release.
Ivo examines 283 municipalities with special accommodation under municipal auspices. The authority is now following up a record review with physical inspections.
