On Friday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to a single-vehicle collision in the area of Seventh Line and Howard Road.
Police said a male driver had lost control of his vehicle and collided with a hydro pole.
Believing he was impaired, police took the driver to headquarters, where two breath samples allegedly registering over the legal limit were obtained.
The 18-year-old Holland Landing man was later released with short date.
Suspicious person arrested
Police responded to a suspicious person complaint at Walmart in Chatham on Friday afternoon.
Prior to police arrival, it was learned the man allegedly left property in a vehicle.
The vehicle was located by police a short distance away and was stopped. Police determined the man had warrants for charges of failing to attend court and breach of probation.
Additional investigation also resulted in the man being charged with theft under $5,000 for a separate theft complaint at Walmart on Jan. 7.
The 35-year-old Wallaceburg man was released with a short date.
Property offenses and resisting arrest
On Friday afternoon, police responded to a theft complainant at Giant Tiger in Chatham.
There were reports a female suspect allegedly fled the store without paying for a cart of items, police said.
Police found the woman walking through the parking lot of the property. She was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
During the course of the arrest, the woman allegedly resisted officers.
The 27-year-old Chatham woman was later released with a short date.
