The axe-wielding hitchhiker follows Caleb McGillvary, who became an internet sensation after being interviewed in 2013. Apparently he had prevented a woman from being attacked with an axe. Shortly thereafter, however, it was revealed that he was connected to a New Jersey murder for which he has since been convicted (via Digital Spy). However, viewers of the documentary are now angry about how the Netflix film is handling McGillvary’s problems.
