(Finance) – The first phases of the excavation have been started with the Martina della milling machine second barrel of the Lonato natural tunnelone of the most important works of the new Brescia Est – Verona High Speed/High Capacity (HS/AC) railway section. The works of Cepav due, the Eni Consortium for High Speed, commissioned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, with the Works Management of Italferr, a company of the Infrastructure Pole of the FS Group, continue according to schedule.
The new route returns among the works financed by the PNRR and represents one of the pieces of the Mediterranean Core Corridor which will connect the ports of the southern Iberian Peninsula with the Ukrainian border, passing through the south of France, Northern Italy and Slovenia, with a section in Croatia.
The HS/AC Brescia Est-Verona line develops mostly alongside the A4 Milan – Venice motorway and the conventional railway linecrossing the Lombardy and Veneto regions, 11 municipalities in the provinces of Brescia, Verona and Mantua (the latter only for road works) and provides for the construction of a railway line of approximately 48 km, including 2.2 km of the “Verona Merci” interconnection with the Verona – Brennero railway axis.
L’economic investment total of the Brescia Est – Verona functional lot, approved by the Interministerial Committee for economic planning, is 2.6 billion euro. The share assigned to Cepav due is 2.16 billion euro.
The construction of the HS/HC Brescia Est – Verona railway line is currently about 45% of work progress.
In terms of achievement, they have been aStart all construction activities on the railway works while the preliminary activities such as the acquisition of the areas, the war reclamation, the archaeological investigations, the demolition of the interfering buildings, the environmental reclamation and the resolution of the public services are being completed.
The Cepav Consortium two consists of Saipemleader with 59%, Impresa Pizzarotti with around 27% and ICM Group with around 14%, among the most significant and recognized companies in the country’s infrastructure sector.
