Cold drinks consumed in summer and winter refresh us. It is known that many drinks that are sold outside as homemade have additives. The additives in these drinks put your health at serious risk. But the dangers of drinks are not limited to these. A new study from the UK found that the amount of bacteria in drinks in cafes and fast food restaurants was nauseating.
ICE MACHINES ARE NOT CLEANING ENOUGH
A new study has proven that the ice in cafes and fast food restaurants is a real breeding ground for bacteria. On average, a beverage has more bacteria in it than the water in the toilet bowl. This is because the ice machines of cafes and fast food restaurants are less often cleaned than toilets.
BEWARE OF THE LEMON YOU ADD TO YOUR DRINK
One study also showed that the beverage we all ordered contained the most bacteria, like a glass of water or a slice of lemon soda. Researchers tested 76 lemon slices from 21 restaurants and found that 70 percent, or 53 slices, were contaminated with bacteria. Although it is not the most comprehensive research on this subject, you may also notice that the lemon slice you buy in the glass is pre-cut and these fruits are kept in plastic containers at room temperature, which is an ideal environment. This provides a suitable environment for bacteria. The research did not reveal the exact source of these bacteria, but revealed that these bacteria cannot live and multiply in alcoholic beverages.
