Värnamo received barriers from MSB on Thursday, when the municipality’s own protective equipment was feared to be insufficient to protect the center from flooding.
More rain for the weekend: “A lot of rain to come”
And the weekend continues in the sign of rain in several places in Götaland, says Linus Karlssonmeteorologist at SMHI:
– We have a weekend ahead of us when quite a lot happens. In terms of warnings, there are some problems with high flows in waterways, especially in the south, in Götaland, he says to News24 and continues:
– In connection with the fact that further rainfall is expected, the water flows will also be affected. So in connection with continued precipitation, we have a continued warning mode.
The amount of rain varies in the several rainfall areas.

SMHI issues a red warning
During Friday, SMHI issues a red warning for flooding in several places.
It applies to upper Viskan, more specifically Marsjön and Mellsjön (between Borås and Ulricehamn), as well as Simmesjön between Svenljunga and Tranemo.
The forecast: Overcast with a bit of sun
In addition to the rain-affected areas in Götaland, cloudy weather awaits in several places to the south.
– If you look at northwestern Svealand and southernmost Norrland, it’s rather snowfall that awaits, says Linus Karlsson and adds that no abnormal amounts of snow are on the way.
Those who were hoping for a sunny weekend may have to wait longer, as long as you don’t live in the southeastern parts of the country.
– Slightly clearer areas during the day are mainly in the middle and northern parts of Norrland. But temporarily also along the east coast of Götaland, where even Gotland can see some sun during the day.
The temperature on Friday will be around plus five degrees in several parts of the country, except in the northern parts, which are expected to get between 5-10 minus degrees cold.
