(Tiper Stock Exchange) – The Government raises the bar on electric mobility thanks to a MASE decree – Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, aiming at the installation of 21,000 charging stations for electric vehicles operational within the next three years on highways and in urban centers from North to South.

With two different decrees, the MASE regulated the method of accessing the funds by tender: 713 million euros drawn from the PNRR (Mission 2, Component 2, Investment 4.3) and aimed at the installation, by the end of 2025, of at least 7,500 super-fast charging infrastructures on extra-urban roads, excluding motorways, and 13,755 fast charging infrastructures in cities .

“There was great expectation for these measures which will allow Italy to give an accelerated march to the transport decarbonisation objectives, the achievement of which also depends on the quality of the air and life in our territories”, explained the Minister Gilberto Pichetto.

Such charging infrastructure will contribute to redevelopment of the current fuel distribution network, adapting it to future sustainable mobility. The measures signed by the Minister define the types of projects and eligible expensesthe selection methods, as well as the portions of the territory in which the service can be organised, taking into account the principles of effectiveness, efficiency and economy, as well as the maximum diffusion and capillarity of infrastructures (for this reason we used the model of optimal territorial areas or ATO).

More specifically, in the first year the awarding of contracts for the construction of 2,500 charging stations on expressways, and of 4,000 columns in urban areas Italian. At the end of 2025 must be installed overall in Italy 21,255 top-up points.

The investment of the PNRR is intended for finance up to 40% of the construction costs of the stationswhich must be distributed on a uniform basis, therefore with a minimum level of recharging infrastructure per area, favoring the use of existing service stations and rest areas. On the freeways are provided super-fast infrastructure (from 175kW), to guarantee quick recharges for long-distance itineraries, favoring installation at existing service stations and existing parking areas. The decree concerning the columns in urban centres (of at least 90kW), instead takes into account the availability of garages, parking lots, private garages, air quality, the current penetration of electric cars, the tourist vocation of the municipalities in defining the criteria of the current fleet in circulation.
