With a month left until the WC in Méribel and Courchevel, Sweden’s only participant in Wengen wants a receipt that he is on the right track.
But in view of the mild winter, Sunday’s competition in the classic all-sport race is going to be risky.
“The surface has been very tough and it looks like it will be tough on Sunday as well,” says the head of the men’s national team, Fredrik Kingstad, in a press release.
Jakobsen came fourth in Val d’Isere and seventh in Madonna di Campiglio and showed that he belongs to the top of the world when he can do it.
In Garmisch Partenkirchen he had the misfortune of getting his shin guard stuck in his boot and drove out. The boundary already in the first run in Adelboden was one of those mistakes that Jakobsen works hard to minimize.
“He has the riding and what happens in Garmisch is something ‘Krille’ cannot influence. In Adelboden he is also riding great and the plan was to be in the top 15 in the first race and to let up in the second but a branch line stopped. Such can be offered for one season, but we hope it stays there,” says Fredrik Kingstad.
Jakobsen is currently tenth in the slalom cup, which is led by the Norwegian Lucas Braathen.
