Peter Forsberg resigned in February 2011 after a long and, to say the least, successful career.
Or? No, the fact is that the Swedish superstar is still playing.
And unsurprisingly, “Foppa” is a huge success.
Everyone knows of course Peter Forsberg and his long and solid career in the absolute world top of ice hockey. Two Olympic golds, as many World Cup golds as well as several powerful awards on a personal level have made “Foppa” one of the absolute foremost and greatest in Swedish sports.
“Foppa” icon
It was in the Colorado Avalanche that the greatest successes were reaped. Peter Forsberg joined the NHL club for the first time in 1995, and he remained there until 2004 when the lockout season in the NHL caused “Foppa” to return home for a season in Modo.

He returned to Colorado a second time in 2007 after a couple of years with the Philadelphia Flyers, before making a third and final stint (albeit briefly) in Colorado in the winter of 2011. After that, the icon paid off, and his efforts with the club were rewarded with a retirement of jersey number 21.

“Had no idea”
But has Peter Forsberg really put his skates on the shelf? In fact, much to the surprise of many, the answer is no. Johan Nilsson, founder of the site Elite Prospects, reveals on Twitter that “Foppa” still contributes with goals and assists. The Swede plays in a senior league for the Swiss team Zug, where this season he accounted for 10 points in only four games.

Last year, the club was close to being eliminated from the series, but with the help of Forsberg’s efforts, they stayed in after he scored a breathtaking 20 points in just four games played.
“Whoops hey, had no idea. So the foot holds up to that level,” writes a surprised user on Twitter.
“Even more impressive, only 2 minutes in the penalty box,” adds another.
