The family lives without electricity: “Preparing us for the crisis”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The high price of electricity means that more and more people are having a tough time financially when it comes to paying their electricity bills.

On a farm in the small village of Tillfället in Sollefteå municipality, Sebastian Ohlsson and Felicia Wallared live with their two children.

They have chosen to cancel their electricity and now have an existence on their farm completely without electricity. The house is instead heated with the help of a wood stove and stoves.

– The idea has grown more and more since we had children. We want to prepare for the crisis that might come, says Felicia.

With the help of solar cells, they get power to charge computers and mobile phones, and during the dark months of the year, a petrol-powered power plant was used for charging.

The couple expects to save electricity costs of up to SEK 10,000 a month during the coldest period of the year. And the long-term goal is for them to be able to live completely self-sufficiently.

– We get meat from the animals and eggs from the chickens and we will grow a lot, says Felicia.
