Tilbury crash leads to man being charged with impaired driving

A 49-year-old Tilbury man is facing several charges, including impaired driving, after Chatham-Kent police responded to a traffic complaint on Middle Line just before 4 pm Monday.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to evade police by reversing through a stop sign before fleeing on foot and hiding in a shed, police said.

Officers followed and arrested the man, police said.

The accused was charged with having a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest and break and enter, police said.

He was released with a Feb. 6 short date.

Chatham-Kent police catch up to four people wanted for various offenses

Chatham-Kent police caught up to four people on Monday wanted for various offences.

A 26-year-old Chatham woman, wanted for possession of stolen property with a value less than $5,000, was located on King Street East in Chatham at 1:15 pm

She was arrested and released with a short date.

Officers responded to a disturbance on Holden Street in Dresden at 1:16 pm that led them to a 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in November 2022, police said.

The accused was arrested and released with a Feb. 6 short date.

Police also located a 28-year-old Tilbury woman wanted on warrant held by Ontario Provincial Police after conducting a traffic stop on Wellington Street in Wallaceburg at 11:43 pm

The accused was arrested and turned over to the OPP.

A 26-year-old Paris, Ont., woman – wanted on an outstanding warrant by Windsor police – was located on Grand Avenue West in Chatham, just after 5 p.m.

She was arrested and turned over to Windsor police.
