Almost all kinds of food are placed in the freezers, which are often used for healthy eating or practical meals. However, some foods that are taken unconsciously pose a great risk to our health. According to experts, there are also some frozen foods that are put in the freezer and bought frozen from the market, which are very low in nutritional value and high in sodium, saturated fat and added sugar.
ATTENTION TO HEALTH RISKS
“Since high intakes of these foods have been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type-2 diabetes and obesity, we should aim to eat them in lower amounts.”
FROZEN FOODS THAT SHOULD NOT BE EATED
PIZZA
Frozen pizzas have a thick crust and are often covered with processed meat. “These are high in sodium and saturated fat, which are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity when eaten in excess,” said Signe.
PASTRY
Pastries are a delicious breakfast food and go perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee. But Signe said these are typically high in saturated fat. “This increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and added sugar, which can increase the risk of type-2 diabetes and obesity,” she added.
DEEP FRIED FOODS
Fried foods, especially those frozen with added preservatives, while delicious, are high in saturated fat and sodium. “Consuming large amounts of these foods is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity,” said Signe.
Sausages
Sausages tend to be high in saturated fat and sodium, Signe said. When eaten in large quantities, sausages are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity, she added.
READY MEALS
They’re quick and convenient, but they tend to be high in saturated fat and sodium, which is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity if eaten in large quantities, Signe said.
