RATP strike disruptions to be expected on Friday January 13

STRIKE RATP. Friday January 13, 2023 could be a black day for users of the metros, buses, trams and RERs in Paris due to a strike call launched by the CGT. What we know.

[Mis à jour le 9 janvier 2023 à 15h15] Should we expect major disruptions in public transport in Paris like last November 10? Through a communicated published on January 7, 2023, the CGT-RATP union filed a strike notice for Friday January 13 “which covers all staff, of all categories and in all services”, with the aim of demanding “a monthly statutory increase of 300 euros, equivalent to 50 index points” by specifying that “the management of the company locks the negotiations on the only question of the Average Remuneration of the Personnel in Place”.

While the NAO meeting (mandatory annual negotiations) of 2023 will be held that day, a “big rally” is planned for 2 p.m. in front of the Esterel building in Val-de-Fontenay (94). RATP agents believe that “the account is still not there”, while “the consequences of inflation will continue to [les] hit”, stressing that the management of the RATP, of which former Prime Minister Jean Castex is at the head, has “mainly responded with bonuses, most of which are ephemeral”.

A strike notice has been filed by the CGT for the day of January 13, 2023. “In 2022, as in 2021 and even the previous years, the company has earned millions of euros in net results, the fruit of our work. Therefore, the part of the added value to be taken into account for our statutory salaries must be more important to better remunerate our work, our qualifications”, estimates the CGT in a letter sent to Jean Castex, CEO of the RATP.

Traffic disruptions in the metros, buses, RER or trams are not yet known and will be between 24 hours and 48 hours before the start of the strike.

The strike notice for January 13, 2023 runs from Thursday January 12 at 7:30 p.m. until Saturday January 14 at 7 a.m.
