Getting away cheaply at the grocery store has perhaps never been as important as it is now for the Swedes – and according to the professionals, it is possible to shop smart without skimping on the flavors.
On a daily basis, Jonny Salviander is responsible for several thousand lunches for school students in Stockholm – and being able to cook a lot of food for a good price has proven to be useful knowledge to pick up in times like these. Here are some of his tips:
Buy smaller quantities – large packs are not always cheaper if you have to throw away some food because you can’t bear to eat it.
Weekly shopping a couple of times a week – at the beginning and before the weekend so that you don’t buy anything on Monday that you don’t want to eat for the weekend.
Switch between different stores – one store is not always the cheapest.
