This spring, the government is putting forward a bill that criminalizes participation in terrorist organizations. When Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) was interviewed about the law just before Christmas, he said, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu agency, that it will be forbidden to wave PKK flags. However, the information was denied by the Foreign Ministry’s press department. Billström later clarified that the proposal does not involve a direct ban, but that flag waving may be used as evidence of support for a terrorist organization.
