Frida Karlsson had a dream situation before the end of the Tour de Ski.
The Swede also managed it in the very best way on Sunday.
When the 23-year-old became the first Swede in 15 years to win the entire Tour de Ski.
After several very impressive efforts during this year’s edition of the Tour de Ski had Frida Karlsson acquired a golden position for the overall victory ahead of Sunday’s final race in Alpe Cermis. The Swede led by over a minute ahead of the runner-up Tiril Udnes Weng and was a big favorite before the final challenging climb.
Frida’s success
The 23-year-old wasn’t going to disappoint anyone up the monster hill either and did just like the blue and yellow skiing icon Charlotte Kalla did in 2008. When today Frida Karlsson became the first Swede to win the entire Tour de Ski in 15 long years.

Karlsson was at the front of the starting field all the way and when it came time to climb up the steep slalom hill, she managed to keep up all the way.
– Frida Karlsson’s skating has been impressive so far. It doesn’t seem like she wants to save on any gunpowder and watch, but she’s going for this now, says Viaplay’s expert Anna-Karin Strömstedt in the broadcast.

Karlsson’s fight
The Swede also had to fight hard and bite hard to keep up with the close battle when the lactic acid did its utmost to topple her.
– She fights for everything she can. And it can be seen that she is having a really tough time. She is really tired now, says expert Strömstedt in Viaplay.
– Oh oh oh, now it’s a really tired Frida Karlsson.

After a real fighting effort, Karlsson was then able to exhale at the top of the hill and celebrate that she won the entire Tour de Ski after a very impressive effort during the mini-tour. Because even if she didn’t win the last stage or even get on the podium, it was enough to take home the overall victory. Congratulations!
