A 34-year-old man allegedly attacked his neighbor with a chainsaw early Saturday morning in Berlin, it says Picture.

The neighbor, a 52-year-old woman, alerted the police at 2 a.m., but when they arrived at the scene, she was dead and her boyfriend, a 52-year-old police officer, was seriously injured with a cut face and a destroyed finger.

He was rushed to hospital where eight surgeons worked for several hours to restore his face.

– There was blood everywhere. In the stairwell, all the way up to the fourth floor and into the apartment, says a forensics technician whom Bild spoke to.

The perpetrator has been taken to a psychiatric hospital for investigation.
