United further despite huge score

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

United won at home against Everton 3–1.

United got a festive opening when Antony headed in 1-0 already in the fourth minute. But just ten minutes later the cold shower came.

Home goalkeeper David de Gea made a huge miss when he let a pass from Neal Maupay between his legs and Everton centre-back Conor Coady got just behind to poke home the equalizer into an empty net.

Coady then became Everton’s scapegoat.

Marcus Rashford made his way to the left wing shortly after the break and hit a cross down the touchline that Coady headed into his own goal.

Everton had an equalizer from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the goal was disallowed after VAR review.

In added time, Marcus Rashford was then able to make it 3-1 on penalties.

Everton, in the relegation zone of the Premier League, also suffered a heavy setback when Alex Iwobi had to be carried off on a stretcher with a suspected foot injury.

Both United Swedes, Victor Nilsson Lindelöf and Anthony Elanga, got to watch the entire match from the substitutes’ bench.
