Two Kosovo Serbs, one of them a child, were injured in an armed attack in Strpce, where Serbs mostly live, in the south of Kosovo.
A week after the end of the barricade crisis in Kosovo, where Orthodox Christmas is celebrated, gunfire was fired from a moving vehicle.
As a result, two Kosovo Serbs, including a child, were injured.
In a statement made by the Kosovo police, it was stated that a suspect related to the attack was taken into custody in a short time and the injured, who were not life-threatening, were being treated in Gracanica.
It was noted that the main road to Strpce was closed by the police after the attack, and investigations were continuing at the scene.
KOSOVO-SERBIA TENSION
Reacting to the detention of former Serbian police officer Dejan Pantic, Kosovo Serbs blocked the roads with the barricades they set up in northern Kosovo on 10-29 December 2022.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had called for the removal of the barricades set up in response to Pantic’s arrest in northern Kosovo, after the detention order was turned into house arrest.
Serbia considers Kosovo, which declared its independence unilaterally in 2008, as its territory.
Serbia and Kosovo, which periodically clash, are trying to find a common way for the normalization of relations and eventually for the two countries to get to know each other, within the scope of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Process initiated in 2011 under the mediation of the European Union. (AA)
