Pokémon GO: A mysterious monster has been discovered

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In Pokémon GO there have been special elite raids in which you could secure Hoopa for some time. Now a new mysterious monster has been discovered in the game, giving trainers hope for a new raid boss. We at MeinMMO will show you which Pokémon it is.

What raid is it? Since October 2022, Niantic has been organizing special elite raids (top raids in German) at regular intervals. These can only be played locally and are harder than all other raids in the game.

However, you will also be rewarded with a mysterious Pokémon. In the last few months you have been able to encounter the practical joke Pokémon Hoopa (Unleashed). However, some trainers have been hoping for a change in the raid boss for a while.

With a bit of luck, it could be that time soon, because the PokeMiners have found new monsters in the game code. We have summarized below which Pokémon you can look forward to in the game.

Who are the PokeMiners?
The PokeMiners are a group of dataminers who periodically mine the Pokémon GO game code to find out new information about the game. In the past, they were able to predict new Pokémon and features very reliably.

However, since the data is not official information, Niantic can change it at any time or decide not to publish it.

These 4 new Pokémon have been found

What was discovered? As the PokeMiners announce on their Twitter channel, during their last search in the Pokémon GO game code they came across the graphics of four new monsters and their shinys. One of them shows the Mega Evolution of Brutalanda (bottom left), which will make its in-game debut as part of the Sparkling Fantasy event.

The other graphics feature the Bug and Fairy Pokémon Wommel and its evolution Bandelby (above), and the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion (below right), which belongs to the Fire and Water types.

Trainers express assumptions about the release

These are the reactions to Volcanion: In the community, the trainers are enthusiastic about the finds. Volcanion in particular gives some players hope that elite raids could soon come and they will have a new challenge. But a release as part of research would also be conceivable for many. Here’s what you can read on reddit:

  • Belt_Pretend: “Volcanion is my favorite mystery Pokemon! I’m really excited for its release!”
  • YutoMaikeru: “Volcanion in Elite Raids?”
  • sijam24: “This will be locked behind a 19.99 ticket”
  • KuriboShoeMario: “Elite Raids are how they reintroduce things they sell a ticket for first (Hoopa is an exception to this theory). I bet next season elite raid will change and be called Zarude. They could do the same for Keldeo. Volcanion will likely come via a ticket unless it’s the focus of next season, and then we’ll likely see it in elite raids over time.”
  • By the way: The new raids are always criticized by the players. You can read about the reasons for this in the following article:

Pokémon GO: The new top raids are great, but trainers demand: “Niantic should remove them”

These are the reactions to Wommel: And Wommel also has some fans among the trainers who are already expressing ideas as to when a possible release could be pending. Some suspect a debut as part of a community day, similar to what happened with Velursi last year (via reddit.com):

  • feelthefebreze: “Wommel Community Day? That would be similar to what they did for Velursi last year.”
  • maninthewoodsdude: “I want a Wommel Community Day!!!”
  • pyrospartan5: “Wommel for Community Day is possible, but I think it could be for Valentine’s Day.”
  • But a publication for Valentine’s Day is also conceivable for one or the other. In any case, Wommel’s type would speak for that, because Niantic likes to resort to fairy Pokémon spawns on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Whether and when the monsters found will actually come into play remains to be seen for the time being.

How do you like the finds of the PokeMiners? Are you also hoping for a new raid boss for the elite raids at Volcanion? Or do you think Niantic will first release the mysterious Pokémon in a paid special research? And when would a release of Wommel be conceivable for you? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments.
