Video Games 2023: the calendar of releases for the year

Video Games 2023 the calendar of releases for the year

A new year is dawning on the planet video games, a year that promises to be loaded with major releases. Remakes of cult licenses, suites of revered titles and expected novelties, here is the schedule of video game releases for 2023.

[Mis à jour le 4 janvier 2023 à 17h15] Between the pandemic that has impacted the distribution of next-generation consoles and games and the general reprimand of major studios singled out for their archaic and unacceptable working conditions, the video game universe has seen a profound change over the past three years. Although the industry finds itself more lucrative and probably healthier for its employees than ever, these various upheavals have indirectly caused many release date postponements, even completely failed releases which have chipped the confidence of a public tired of being taken too often for ovines or purses on legs. Because the player is now demanding, openly critical of an industry generally more concerned with finance than with the creative spirit, and perfectly determined to show him his mistakes, however gross they may be. If 2022 has not been a very good year for video games with a few exceptions, 2023 promises to be much less sinister and even rocked by a positive nostalgic energy. The coming months will benefit from the return of successful franchises offering us unexpected second installments and new generation remakes, but also from the arrival of unexpected and original releases. Our editorial team has prepared a short calendar of releases not to be missed in the first quarter of 2023, whether they are favourites, essential or unpublished projects.

With the releases of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, the PS5 exclusive Forspoken, and One Piece Odyssey, January is on the Japanese side. Add to that the release of Fire Emblem Engage, seventeenth of the name, and you will have something to satisfy all fans of these legendary franchises, from the world of manga or the world of video games. But the star of the month is indeed Dead Space. Indeed, the famous series of horror games is making a comeback in a next-gen remake that is more beautiful and terrifying than ever.
