Calle Halfvarsson and William Poromaa finished fourth and seventh respectively in Wednesday’s chase start.

The two Swedes were still in the lead at the finish line, but had to see themselves defeated by none other than Johannes Hösflot Kläbo who, as usual, took home the victory in Wednesday’s chase start. Calle Halfvarsson started fourth, a place he eventually defended, while William Poromaa drove up considerably from fourteenth place.
The Swedes’ criticism
The field of riders was more or less united from start to finish, and apart from the superb Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, it was a united cluster that settled for the podium places. This meant that the start of the hunt did not really contribute very much to the summary.
– It will be a bit collected so it won’t be great fun for the tour, says William Poromaa to SVT Sport.

At the same time, he was still satisfied with his own performance for the day.
– It was good for me and I got a decent result and I’m in it again so it’s just a matter of looking forward.

“Pretty worthless”
Calle Halfvarsson is less satisfied, however, and believes that such competitions as Wednesday’s hunting start do not give the riders anything at all.
– To be honest, it will be a rather useless weekend really, we are standing and stomping on the same positions. We at the top are on a similar footing as we were when we came here to Oberstdorf, says Calle Halfvarsson to the site.
– If we had run a mass start today, we might have gotten more out of yesterday, he concludes.

The next men’s Tour de Ski event takes place on Friday, January 6, when sprints are on the schedule in Italy and Val di Fiemme.
