A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and rape of a woman in Botkyrka municipality, southwest of Stockholm.
It was during Tuesday evening that a woman noticed that she was being followed by a man while she was out walking in Tullinge. The 35-year-old man assaulted the woman and dragged her out into a wooded area. There, the woman is said to have been raped. The man then left the scene.
Shortly afterwards, a private person finds the woman and calls the police.
– With the help of information, surveillance cameras and dog tracking, the patrols find a suspected perpetrator aged 35. He was later tracked down to a residence, where he was arrested, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson for the police in the Stockholm region.
The woman’s injury status is currently unclear.
Parallel to the incident, the police received information that another woman had been assaulted near the scene.
– In that case, it was about an attempted robbery where he tried to take a woman’s phone. The information from there agreed with the information from the woman who was assaulted, and therefore the man is also suspected of attempted robbery, says Daniel Wikdahl.
