“The Environmental Protection Agency has taken into account, among other things, that the permit now granted is time-limited to four years, that a new permit process regarding a more comprehensive permit will begin shortly and that the general environmental interests can best be served by the Environmental Protection Agency concentrating its resources on the upcoming goal” , writes the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency on its website.
In the past, both the Gotland County Administrative Board and the Nature Conservation Society have chosen not to appeal.
The background is that in December, Cementa was granted a permit for four years in the Land and Environmental Court. In addition to the short permit, Cementa is also working with a longer-term application of 20–30 years.
