At the turn of the year, the floodgates were closed to provide tips on songs that should be able to qualify for the new version of the hymn book, which will be ready in about 10 years. Among the suggestions are both new compositions and old favorites Ted Gärdestad’s Sol wind and water and Miss Li’s health god. In total, over 8,000 wishes from the Swedish people have been received.
The last time was in 1986 but now is the time again. Since the 18th century, the Swedish hymnal has been revised only four times, the last in 1986.
The Church of Sweden estimates that there are approximately 100 or 150 songs that have passed the best before date should be out and an equal number should be in. The question is what expression the new songs can have.
