As of today, Baarn and Eemnes will be working together in collecting property taxes, sewage charges and waste charges, among other things. Small Eemnes prefers to outsource this, because it has to make strict choices in the number of tasks a municipality has. “Tax collection is important, but not a core task,” says mayor Roland van Benthem. “And in addition, handling objections also costs a lot of official capacity. In Eemnes, that number is above average.”
