Work, Istat: “Training in companies is growing, +8.7% in 5 years”

Inflation Istat confirms February prices at the top since 1995

(Finance) – The pandemic crisis does not stop the business investment in training. According to Istat data, in 2020 68.9% of active companies in Italy with at least 10 employees carried out professional training activities, among large companies (250 employees and more) the share exceeds 90%.

The most widespread method of training in companies is still the traditional one, i.e. the frontal type (59.5% of companies), but in 2020 the use of educational activities other than courses in half of the companies (+10.3% compared to 2015) such as on-the-job training, participation in conferences and seminars and above all self-learning through distance learning.

Over four million workers have participated in training courses (44.6% of total employees, with slight differences between men and women). (with an increase of 10 percentage points compared to 2015). It emerges there distance education, adopted by almost a third of companies, i.e. those productive realities that thanks to the use of digital technology have been able to invest in their human capital even during the pandemic crisis and with the interruption of ordinary activities.

In 2020 compared to 2015 there was a increase in companies that provided training activities (+8.7%). The share of employees course participants in companies che have undergone professional training is 55.5%.

The weight of training on overall labor cost remained stable at‘1.9%. A node continues to be that of the skills deficit: in 2020, a third of companies declared that a part of their employees did not have the appropriate skills to carry out their work according to the required level. In large companies, the skills gap affects two-thirds of units. (
