Redmi 12C is built on a 6.71″ HD+ display with a notch for its 5MP front camera. Featuring a non-slip texture and diagonal stripes, its back panel has a fingerprint scanner and dual camera setup led by a 50MP unit. Redmi doesn’t give us any details about the second camera, but we believe it could be a depth sensor.
On the hardware side, the 12C comes with the Helio G85 chipset with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of storage expandable up to 512GB. The smartphone will run the MIUI 13 interface right out of the box. (It’s probably based on Android 12), but you won’t get all MIUI 13 features on 12C as it runs a “custom optimized version” of MIUI 13.
Other highlights of the Redmi 12C include a 5,000mAh battery, a microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports 4G networks and has a dedicated microSD card slot.
The Redmi 12C comes in four colors and comes in three memory options – 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB priced at CNY 699 (about $100), CNY 799 (about $115) and 899 CNY (about $130). It will be available in China from January 1 via Xiaomi’s official Chinese website, but there is no word on whether it will be available in other markets.
