(Finance) – The Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano signed a decree, with the aim of mitigate the effects of expensive utility bills and to support with a contribution of 40 million to businesses neo operatives culture sectorsuch as cinemas, theatres, concert halls and museums and other cultural venues.
“A provision for those sectors that perform a very important cultural service, – says the Minister – and which have been put to the test by the energy crisis following the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. A fundamental support to avoid the risk of closures and therefore a reduction in the cultural offer, but also the possible risk of an increase in the cost of tickets which, inevitably, would discourage public participation, compromising the first signs of recovery”.
The resources will be distributed as follows: 15 million to theaters and concert halls; 15 million to cinemas; 10 million to museums, archaeological areas and parks and monumental complexes, public (not pertaining to the MiC) and private.
The contribution will serve to offset the increase in costs relating to the supply of electric energy it’s gas in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic bills. The sums will be recognized in proportion to the difference between the amount of the supply costs incurred in 2022 compared to the same period of 2019like will appear on the invoices attached to the accepted questions.
However, the beneficiaries will have to comply with certain requirements. As for the theater and concert hallsthe owner or anyone who continuously manages one or more cinemas in business, with a capacity of at least 80 placesand that it has organised, during 2022, a minimum number of shows (at least 40 performances plays or 15 concerts), proven by suitable documentation. As for Movie theatersyou will need to have accomplished at least 250 performances during 2022 in the room for which the grant is requested. For the museums, archaeological areas and parks and monumental complexes, it will be necessary to demonstrate that they are open to the public at least 24 hours a week or, in the case of seasonal openings, for at least 160 days in 2022.
