Two people belonging to a criminal network in Varberg have for a long time robbed themselves of thousands of kroner by driving around in a fake taxi and picking up passengers.
The men, who suggested they were armed with a gun, lured the taxi passengers into the car and forced them to ATMs to withdraw cash under threat and violence. The men have also forced mobile phones and other valuables.
Varberg district court convicted the men for, among other things, several cases of robbery, illegal threats, illegal deprivation of liberty and threats against officials. The most driving of the men was sentenced to three years in prison and his accomplice to a suspended sentence with 75 hours of community service.
