The much-maligned MMORPG New World seems to be in good shape ahead of 2023: recent reviews on Steam climb to 81%, making it one of the best MMORPGs on the PC platform.
What milestone has New World just reached?
“New World is already great and still has so much potential”
What do the testers who have played it now say? A player says after 250 hours (via steam) that he has been looking for an MMORPG for a long time that will give him the kick again, like he did with Everquest 2. But the feeling of the past, of the first hours in Ultima Online, Everquest or WoW, cannot Bring back MMORPG.
But New World offers: a fun combat system, decent graphics, a good job, crafting and housing system:
Just try it and don’t care what people say. When you play them, you allow MMOs to get better and this deserves a chance because it’s already great and still has a lot of potential.

Another tester with almost 760 hours says (via steam):
You can feel the improvements compared to the release, the grinding doesn’t feel as tiring anymore and you don’t have to wait indefinitely in front of instances for the right people to run them, thanks to the finder tool. The return was worth it.

Are there any negative reviews? Yes, of course. Overall, the MMORPG still has 69% Steam reviews.
However, the current negative reviews are often about “side issues”: someone was banned, someone thinks Amazon is stupid, someone has technical problems, someone was flamed because they spoke German.
The factual criticism of the game is something like: quests and PvP weren’t that great, the paths are boring and there are still too many bugs.

Why are the 80% Steam reviews so special? Major MMORPGs rarely break the 80% mark on Steam in recent reviews:
Only MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV, Guild Wars 2, Runescape and now New Word make it across the border.
New World is on sale on Steam right now, it’s 50% off and costs just under €20.
