A witness says he heard two loud bangs just after 00:30. “Really loud, it sounded like cobras (illegal firecrackers, ed.). So we immediately thought of fireworks, you hear it more at this time of the year,” says Denny, who visited his parents in Maartensdijk. “But about fifteen minutes later, the fire brigade and police suddenly arrived and it turned out that there was more to it.”
