Convicted of protecting a criminal – acquitted in the Court of Appeal
This summer, a lawyer was convicted of protecting a criminal after taking part in planning to plant a false piece of evidence.
Now he is acquitted in the Court of Appeal.
“The Encrochat conversation on which the indictment is based, and in which the lawyer is mentioned, is not sufficient as evidence for him to have participated in the planning of the deployment of a false piece of evidence,” writes the Court of Appeal in a press release.
It was in 2020 that the lawyer represented a client who was suspected of aiding and abetting attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.
Reported themselves – get penalty discount from HD
Two young men told the police that they sold drugs and now feared for their lives.
The data contributed to solving crimes.
The men were sentenced to prison for six years and six years and two months, respectively.
But today the Supreme Court announced that the men will receive a sentence discount of two years each, thanks to their participation in solving the crime.
– The possibility of a lower sentence is supposed to act as a motive for suspects to choose to tell instead of remaining silent. For it to work, it is required that they can expect a relatively large reduction of the sentence. It is gratifying that the Supreme Court shared my view on the size of the sentence reduction, says Deputy Attorney General Katarina Johansson Welin.

Gas prices in Europe have reached the lowest level since Russia invaded Ukraine, writes TT.

The half-turn: Settles for 18,150 more in salary
There was an outcry in Trelleborg in Scania when the board consisting of M, KD, L and SD hammered through more and higher politicians’ salaries.
Most noticed was the decision to raise the fee for the chair of the municipal board Ann Kajson Carlqvist (M) from SEK 71,500 to SEK 125,000.
Now part of the increase is being stopped, reports Trelleborgs Allehanda.
The fee was supposed to be raised in two steps to land at SEK 125,000 by 2024. After the storm of criticism, the board has chosen to back down and remains at step one of the fee rocket – that is, SEK 89,650 a month.
“Of course it arouses emotions when politicians’ fees change. I fully understand that. We have also listened to the criticism that has come,” writes Kajson Carlqvist to Trelleborg’s Allehanda.

How can the electricity be knocked out by 5-10 cm of snow as you write? Isn’t that a very common amount of snow in winter? Exactly what is the problem for our power grid this year with those kinds of normal snow amounts?
Wind
It can be due to a few different things.
If the snow is wet and heavy, trees can fall and tear down power lines, for example.
If it is cold, high electricity consumption can cause the electricity networks to become overloaded.
Slippery and a lot of snow on the roads also make it more difficult for the electricity companies’ staff to get there to repair things that have broken.
