Permakris, epadunk, barbiecore and Putin prize are some of the new words of the year. Russia’s war of invasion in Ukraine, and its economic consequences, resulted in words like kamikaze drones and energy war. Climate change and the transition to fossil-free energy production gave us, among other words, climate damage and decarbonisation. The new word list contains a total of 35 words/phrases that are completely new or have become more common during the year. And it doesn’t go in a minor key all the way through. From the research, we got the Nobel Prize-winning click chemistry, i.e. the method that causes molecules to latch onto each other. From the sport we learned to have the day – to have flow.
