2022 is almost over and MeinMMO is already looking forward to 2023 with its big releases for multiplayer fans. We show you five of the biggest announced games so far here in the list.
What is this list? We introduce you to five ambitious multiplayer titles that are scheduled for release in 2023. The list includes games that are developed with great effort and offer multiplayer modes.
We don’t pay attention to a specific genre and the list does not represent a ranking either. These are short game presentations that could be among the biggest releases of 2023. You can find here:

The Day Before – A gaming grab bag
What kind of game is this? The Day Before is very reminiscent of the loot shooter “The Division” and offers similar mechanics. However, the new game is supposed to offer more survival elements and plays in a world full of zombies.
The graphics of the first trailers look excellent, after all it runs in Unreal Engine 5. It promises a large, realistic open world with complex crafting mechanics. It has been one of the most requested games on Steam for many months.
However, there is a lot of skepticism surrounding The Day Before. The project looks very ambitious and there are many players and experts who have reservations that the rather small, unknown development studio “Fntastic” can deliver such a large and high-quality game and keep all the promises.
When is the planned release? The release date is currently March 1st, 2023. It will be available on Steam and the current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series. It was one of the big games postponed in 2022.
What is the multiplayer like? The Day Before is intended to offer extensive co-op content and it’s likely all to be experienced together with friends. You can also encounter enemy players.

Throne and Liberty – Big MMORPG for PC and consoles
What kind of game is this? Throne and Liberty has a checkered past. There were already first play tests in 2015, at that time still under the name Lineage Eternal and with mobile plans. In the meantime, however, the focus is fully on the PC and even the latest consoles PS5 and Xbox Series.
There aren’t many details yet. It relies on an action-combat system, the first scenes of which are reminiscent of the Elder Scrolls Online system. In addition, the following features are known:
Throne and Liberty could serve a niche, especially on the consoles – the selection of high-quality MMORPGs on the consoles is still limited.
When is the planned release? Our MMORPG expert Alexander Leitsch sees a 75% chance that Throne and Liberty will appear in 2023. When exactly is still unclear, a postponement is also possible. The first release plans were already in 2021.
What is the multiplayer like? The MMORPG will feature extensive co-op content, as usual for the genre.
Recently there was also new information about PvP – so most zones in the game are safe, but there are also clear PvP zones. In addition, guilds can join forces and earn special advantages and resources in separate modes.

ARK 2 – The Big Upgrade?
What kind of game is this? ARK 2 is the sequel to the survival phenomenon ARK: Survival Evolved. Not all details are known yet, but it is probably a modernization of the first part.
ARK 1 is huge, offers tons of content and if the sequel is based on that, it’s a very ambitious project.
You wake up naked on a beach, look for food, build a shelter and are regularly eaten by dinosaurs. Then you build better weapons, mix tranquilizer tinctures and grab yourself some dinosaurs that are used for fighting or for resource gathering.
ARK 1 relies on large, public or private servers with PvE or PvP orientation. You can find out what is known about ARK 2 so far in our info article on the game.
When is the planned release? In June 2022, developer Wildcard confirmed a release in 2023, but no exact date. However, according to the current status, it is only available for PC and Xbox Series, but not for the PS5.
What is the multiplayer like? If the game is based on its predecessor, you can experience the entire ARK 2 together on a server of your choice – with or without PvP.

Diablo 4 – The Biggest Game of the Year?
What kind of game is this? The Diablo series has made the popular “looting & leveling” socially acceptable. The first part appeared in 1996, the “current” Diablo 3 came 10 years ago, but is still supported. In 2023 the sequel is finally coming and probably one of the biggest games of the year.
Diablo 4 is an action RPG that uses an isometric perspective – a slanted top-down view. There are 5 selectable classes for the release, all of which offer very different ways of playing, such as a necromancer with skellet minions or a barbarian who relies on brute force.
You use your skills to destroy endless hordes of demons and constantly improve your equipment. There is more detail about Diablo 4 in our large info hub.
When is the planned release? Release is scheduled for June 06, 2023. It’s coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
What is the multiplayer like? With Diablo 4, the series takes another step in the direction of MMO and you will also discover foreign players walking across your map. All content will probably also be playable in co-op and PvP is also possible, but rather no focus.

Wild Hearts – EA is poaching at Monster Hunter
What kind of game is this? Publisher EA surprisingly announced a completely new brand in 2022. With Wild Hearts comes an action game that is strongly reminiscent of Monster Hunter, but has its own ideas. The optics are strongly based on feudal Japan.
You search, hunt and salvage monsters in the world of Wild Hearts to collect gold and materials for better equipment. At the same time you expand your base for further bonuses.
So-called “Karakuri” are at your disposal during the fights – small structures that you can build quickly and use to your advantage. They ensure a lot of mobility and action in the battles. Here you will find a small play report.
When is the planned release? Wild Hearts will be released on February 17th for the PC (Steam, Epic) as well as for the consoles PS5 and Xbox Series.
What is the multiplayer like? Wild Hearts will be mostly playable in co-op and even offers crossplay for all platforms.
