Killer, incel or foot fetishist? The most terrible House of the Dragon men ranked

If there’s one truth House of the Dragon has pounded into us over and over again throughout Season 1, it’s this: Westeros is a man’s world. So much so that the very idea of ​​giving a woman the Iron Throne sets the stage for a political coup and endless bloodshed. Whether it’s Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) or Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), Team Black or Team Green, one way or another, all of the women on the show shine at the mercy of the men in her lifeno matter how much power they seem to have.

That will most likely change in Season 2. Fans of the series are already discussing on Twitter which upcoming war crimes they must forgive their heroines – and which are inexcusable. As of now, however, it is still primarily the men from Westeros who afford one bad thing after the next. Time to rank the biggest House of the Dragon assholes.

8th Most Terrible House of the Dragon Men: Corlys Velaryon

What makes Corlys (Steve Toussaint) awful: Would have absolutely no problem marrying off his daughter, who was only 12 at the time, to a grown man of advanced age. Leaves his wife completely alone after the two lose their children. Well, actually only one. But they don’t know that!

What still speaks for him: Seems (despite everything) to have one of the few remotely healthy relationships in Westeros. Is mostly kind to his grandchildren. Second to only one other man on this list for damn easy entry into large spaces.

7th Most Awful House of the Dragon Men: Aemond Targaryen

What makes Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) awful: Doesn’t understand when to take a joke too far, is very resentful and takes out inferiority complexes on others. Should urgently get a kite pilot’s license.

What still speaks for him: Had a pretty rough childhood and still behaves almost like a normal person towards his sister and his mother. Looks like an exaggerated anime villain and one can only applaud this bold fashion decision.

#6 Worst House of the Dragon Men: Otto Hightower

What makes Otto (Rhys Ifans) awful: Prostitutes his daughter and generally seems to have no respect for female autonomy (let alone authority). Secretly plans a political coup and doesn’t shy away from having entire families murdered.

What still speaks for him: Appears to have a genuine interest in the future of the empire and a good political advisor. Doesn’t strive for the throne himself, just wants to stand next to it. Dares to speak uncomfortable truths – even when it comes to the fact that the king’s daughter was spotted in a brothel.

5th Most Terrible House of the Dragon Men: Viserys Targaryen

What Makes Viserys (Paddy Considine) Terrible: Reluctant to make decisions and, for the most part, appears completely incompetent as a king, despite a pronounced peacefulness. Kills his first wife and keeps forgetting his second wife’s name. Doesn’t care at all for the majority of his children, who turn into monsters as a result. Indirectly triggers the Dance of the Dragons.

What still speaks for him: Genuinely loves at least parts of his family and still stands up for his favorite daughter even on his deathbed. Does more for women’s rights than most of the rest of Westeros. Provides by far the most emotional moments of the first season.

#4 Worst House of the Dragon Men: Criston Cole

What makes Criston (Fabien Frankel) awful: Takes it upon himself to destroy a woman’s life simply for not accepting his marriage proposal – and has rightfully been ridiculed as Incel by HotD fans. Transfers his antipathy to children, who can do absolutely nothing for his injured pride. Kills people and doesn’t have to fear any consequences. Despite everything, considers himself a morally untouchable authority.

What still speaks for him: Was placed by Rhaenyra in a sexual position where he could hardly say no – which at least partly explains his anti-attitude. Has no problem working among women and will do anything for his boss (even without being asked).

3rd Most Terrible House of the Dragon Men: Daemon Targaryen

What makes Daemon (Matt Smith) awful: Will only get an erection if he’s related to the person, or at least looks like they might be related. Kills his wife with a stone (!) and generally has no respect for life away from his immediate family. Chokes Rhaenyra.

What still speaks for him: Stands up for sexual liberation and emancipation. Has the best one-liners on the show. Nobody enters rooms more spectacularly than he does.

#2 Most Terrible House of the Dragon Men: Aegon Targaryen

What makes Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) awful: Rape, public masturbation, regular visits to children’s fight clubs, perhaps the most disturbing element of the entire series.

What still speaks for him: Was damn entertaining and even likable at times as a perpetually drunk teenager (Ty Tennant) with perfect meme facial expressions, pig pranks and an absolute unwillingness to be part of any power games. At least he doesn’t want any harm from his own family.

#1 Most Awful House of the Dragon Men: Larys Strong

What makes Larys (Matthew Needham) awful: Kills his entire family in hopes of jerking off at the Queen’s feet afterwards.

What still speaks for him: Probably didn’t have it easy in his brother’s shadow and was bullied all his life because of his foot.
