Canada’s tournament started with a shock 2-5 loss against the Czech Republic in the Under-20 Men’s Ice Hockey World Championships. Canada’s super-promising centre-forward Shane Wright spoke bluntly about the loss.
Reigning champion and host of the tournament, Canada, suffered a terrible setback in their opening match at the Under-20 Men’s Ice Hockey World Championship.
The Czech Republic surprised Canada 5–2. Czech goalkeeper Tomas Suchanek stopped 36 shots and excelled as a downer for Canada. The Czech Republic beat Canada for the first time in the youth games with three points.
– Their goalkeeper played really, really well. It’s obviously very frustrating to lose. As much as this result is profound, we must learn from this.
